Pricing (VAT included)

Pricing, Billing & Booking Overview

We charge simple hourly rates: £67 per hour (1 man & van) or £87 per hour (2-man team), including VAT.

Both options include a fully equipped van and professional moving equipment (straps, blankets, dollies and basic tools).

How the clock works

Time starts when we arrive and stops when unloading is complete at your final address.

After the minimum charge, time is billed in 5-minute increments, so you only pay for the time you use.

To keep the job efficient (and your cost down), most customers save money by having boxes packed and furniture ready before we arrive.

Minimum charge

  • 1 hour minimum – up to 3 items (Leicester & nearby)

  • 2 hour minimum – house/flat moves anywhere in Leicestershire

Multiple trips / runs

Some moves need 2 or more van loads. There’s no per-trip fee — the price is based on time worked from arrival to final offload.

Booking deposit

A £50 booking deposit (bank transfer) is required to secure your slot and is deducted from the final bill when the job goes ahead.

Because we block the time in our diary and turn away other work, the deposit is non-refundable if you cancel.

You may change the date once with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability, and the new booking must be within 7 days of the original booking.

If we cannot offer availability within that 7-day period, the deposit remains non-refundable. If we cancel for any reason, you receive a full refund.

Our Van and Moving Equipment

✅️ Right-Sized Van for Leicester Streets (why this saves you money)

✅️ Right-Sized Van for Leicester Streets (why this saves you money)

✅️ Right-Sized Van for Leicester Streets (why this saves you money)

  • We use a medium-wheelbase Vauxhall Movano with custom lashing points, rear loading doors, and a side sliding door for quick access in tight spaces.

  • For man and van jobs in Leicester and across Leicestershire, the van size matters more than most people realise.

  • A larger Luton van can be great in theory, but in many Leicester areas it can’t park close to the property, can’t fit comfortably on narrow streets, and sometimes has to move for traffic — which slows the job down and increases the time on an hourly rate.

  • Because our van fits standard parking spaces and most driveways, we can usually load from the closest safe point to your door. The side sliding door also helps when the rear doors can’t be opened fully (for example in tight parking bays or narrow streets), so we can keep loading efficiently without constant repositioning. That means shorter carry distances, fewer delays, and a more efficient move whether it’s a single item collection, a flat move, or a house/flat move with multiple loads.

  • For many local moves, multiple well-organised runs in an agile van can be faster and better value than one large vehicle parked further away — especially when long carry distances and parking restrictions slow the job down.

🔧🔨 Professional Moving Equipment

✅️ Right-Sized Van for Leicester Streets (why this saves you money)

✅️ Right-Sized Van for Leicester Streets (why this saves you money)

  • We arrive with professional moving equipment on every job, included in your hourly rate at no extra charge.

  • Our heavy-duty piano dolly (rated up to 900kg) helps us move pianos, washing machines and heavy furniture safely.

  • For everyday loading and stairs, we use a folding sack truck (up to 200kg) that can convert into a two-person system when needed.

  • We also carry shoulder dolly lifting straps for awkward or heavy items, plus furniture assembly tools, protective blankets, heavy-duty straps and bungee cords, and roof bars for long items such as ladders.

  • The goal is simple: faster loading, safer handling, and better protection for your belongings and property.

📍 Owner-Operated Local Business

Typical Local Move Examples (2-Man Team)

Typical Local Move Examples (2-Man Team)

  • Slick Removals is owner-operated and based in South Wigston, so you deal with us directly and we personally handle your move.

  • Being local to Leicester means we’re used to the access issues that affect moving time — terraced streets, tight parking, multi-floor flats, and restricted loading areas — and we plan the job to keep it efficient on an hourly booking.

Typical Local Move Examples (2-Man Team)

Typical Local Move Examples (2-Man Team)

Typical Local Move Examples (2-Man Team)

  • Below are example time and cost ranges for local moves with our two-person team (£87/hour, VAT included). Your final cost depends on the actual time worked, access, and how much needs moving.

  • 1-bedroom flat: typically 2–3 hours (£174–£261)

  • 2-bedroom house: typically 3–4 hours (£261–£348)

  • 3-bedroom house: typically 4–6 hours (£348–£522)

  • 4-bedroom house: typically 6–8 hours (£522–£696)

  • What affects the total time?
    The main factors are:

  • how much you have to move (boxes and furniture volume)

  • how well-packed and ready everything is

  • access

  • carry distance (stairs, parking, long walks to the van)

  • distance between addresses and whether there are multiple stops

  • furniture that needs dismantling and reassembly

  • For clarity, we bill for the actual time worked in line with the pricing rules above.

Jobs & Case Studies

1) Case Study: High-Volume Storage Move (Shurgard Leicester → Knighton, LE2)

2) Case Study: 3-Storey House Move With Tight Parking (Market Harborough, LE16)

2) Case Study: 3-Storey House Move With Tight Parking (Market Harborough, LE16)

Service: Storage unit relocation (high box volume + heavy items)

Result: Completed in ~2.5 hours (loading + transit + unloading), efficient due to ground-floor access

This was a high-volume move from Shurgard Leicester into a property in Knighton (LE2), including around 90 boxes and a very heavy super-king mattress.

Because the storage unit had ground-floor access, we avoided lift delays and loaded quickly.

To maximise speed at the delivery end, the customer and a family member assisted to create a “chain”, which meant boxes and furniture moved into the property at double the pace once we arrived.

Location: Leicester → Knighton (LE2)

Team: 2-man team + customer assistance at delivery

Key factor: Ground-floor access (no lift waiting)

Outcome: Fast turnaround and strong value on an hourly booking

Review: Checkatrade , 6 December 2025

2) Case Study: 3-Storey House Move With Tight Parking (Market Harborough, LE16)

2) Case Study: 3-Storey House Move With Tight Parking (Market Harborough, LE16)

2) Case Study: 3-Storey House Move With Tight Parking (Market Harborough, LE16)

Service: House move + storage box removal (3-storey property)

Result: Smooth move with no damage, solved heavy garden logistics efficiently

This Market Harborough job involved moving from a 3-storey property with parking constraints and several awkward outdoor items.

The customer had prepared well (furniture dismantled and items staged), so we could focus on safe loading, stacking, and the “non-standard” items.

We secured a long ladder using roof rails and used the right handling kit for heavy garden items to avoid breakage and protect access routes.

Location: Market Harborough (LE16)

Team: 2-man team

Equipment used: Roof rails, specialist sack truck for heavy/round items

Outcome: Efficient logistics in a difficult parking area

Review: Google, November 2025

3) Case Study: Student Move With Shared Load Value (Loughborough, LE11)

2) Case Study: 3-Storey House Move With Tight Parking (Market Harborough, LE16)

4) Case Study: Staged Move & High-Efficiency Van Packing (Wigston, LE18)

Service: Student relocation to a town-centre flat (tight access + stairs)

Result: Completed within the booking window and helped a second student within the same slot

This student relocation in Loughborough (LE11) had a common town-centre layout issue: restricted door clearance, awkward internal geometry, and tight stairs.

We planned the route, handled the heavy items safely, and kept the job moving despite access limitations.

Because the main move completed efficiently and the booking time remained, we helped the student’s friend move into the same building — adding extra value without compromising safety or care.

Location: Loughborough (LE11)

Team: 2-man team

Key challenge: Restricted access + tight stairs

Outcome: Efficient move plus added value within the same slot

Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 22 July 2025

4) Case Study: Staged Move & High-Efficiency Van Packing (Wigston, LE18)

6) Case Study: Saving Money with Hourly rates vs Fixed Quotes (Knighton, LE2)

4) Case Study: Staged Move & High-Efficiency Van Packing (Wigston, LE18)

Service: Staged move (garage items+ careful loading strategy)

Result: Strong load efficiency and secure transport with professional packing discipline

This Wigston move involved a garage full of packed items and furniture, where the key value was how much could be safely loaded per run.

Proper van packing is not just stacking — it’s weight distribution, stability, and eliminating movement in transit.

We used a consistent method: heavy/bulky items first to form a stable base, lighter items secured above, then straps to prevent shifting.

Location: Wigston (LE18)

Service type: Staged move / multiple loads as needed

Outcome: Secure load, efficient use of booking time

Review: Checkatrade (Lo), 18 August 2025

6) Case Study: Saving Money with Hourly rates vs Fixed Quotes (Knighton, LE2)

6) Case Study: Saving Money with Hourly rates vs Fixed Quotes (Knighton, LE2)

Service: Long-distance furniture move (one-man hybrid with customer help)

Result: Cost-controlled solution using a one-man rate where suitable

This relocation from Quorn (LE12) to Nottingham was furniture-focused. To keep costs down, the customer opted for a one-man service with help at both ends for heavy lifts.

For longer-distance jobs, it’s important customers understand how billing works (loading + travel + unloading time).

The move stayed straightforward because expectations and access details were agreed upfront.

Location: LE12 → Nottingham

Service type: Long-distance / furniture move

Outcome: Cost-efficient approach using a hybrid plan

Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 16 August 2025

6) Case Study: Saving Money with Hourly rates vs Fixed Quotes (Knighton, LE2)

6) Case Study: Saving Money with Hourly rates vs Fixed Quotes (Knighton, LE2)

Service: Local house move with tight access constraints

Result: Final bill £217.50 vs a £800 fixed quote from another company

This Knighton move had tight bollards and low-hanging branches — a common Leicester access problem where larger vehicles struggle to get close.

Because we could position the van properly, the carry distance was reduced and loading remained efficient.

The customer compared our transparent hourly approach to a much higher fixed-price quote and saw a clear cost benefit based on actual time worked.

Location: Knighton (LE2)

Key constraint: Tight access (bollards + low branches)

Outcome: Efficient positioning saved time and cost

7) Case Study: House Move With Furniture Assembly Problem-Solving (Countesthorpe → Melton Mowbray

7) Case Study: House Move With Furniture Assembly Problem-Solving (Countesthorpe → Melton Mowbray

Service: Small house move + on-site tool fix for damaged fittings

Result: Completed in under ~3 hours including transit

This Countesthorpe to Melton move was straightforward until we hit a common issue: furniture partly dismantled with rounded bolt holes.

Rather than delay the job or leave it unresolved, we used the correct gripping tools to remove the damaged bolts safely.

This is exactly why we carry a proper toolkit — it prevents small problems turning into big time losses on moving day.

Location: LE8 → LE13

Service type: Local move + dismantle support

Outcome: Problem solved quickly, move completed under 3 hours

Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 22 December 2025

7) Case Study: House Move With Furniture Assembly Problem-Solving (Countesthorpe → Melton Mowbray

7) Case Study: House Move With Furniture Assembly Problem-Solving (Countesthorpe → Melton Mowbray

Service: Specialist appliance manoeuvring + tight access delivery

Result: Delivered and installed without damage after another delivery team abandoned it

A customer in Swadlincote (DE11) had an American fridge freezer left stranded after a delivery company couldn’t get it through a tight access route. The challenge wasn’t the weight alone — it was the angle changes, narrow sections, and awkward turns where trolleys add width and get stuck.

We switched to shoulder dolly lifting straps for a slimmer profile through the tightest points, then completed the final placement safely.

Location: Swadlincote (DE11)

Team: 2-man team

Equipment used: Shoulder Dolly straps, sack truck as needed

Outcome: Successful placement, no damage

Case Study: Large Move to a 7-Bedroom House (Northampton, NN1)

Service: Larger residential relocation (multi-storey + heavy items)

Result: Completed with careful handling and sustained pace across a long day

This Northampton job involved moving heavy, bulky items from a multi-level property into a larger 7-bedroom home.

The key challenge on moves like this is maintaining safe handling standards and consistent efficiency over hours of lifting and repeated stair runs.

We focused on safe manoeuvring, stable loading, and clear placement instructions to avoid rework and wasted time.

Location: Northampton (NN1)

Service type: Large house relocation

Outcome: Careful handling + steady progress all day

9) Case Study: Large Move to a 7-Bedroom House (Northampton, NN1)

Service: Short-notice waste collection / post-move clear-out

Result: Quick turnaround with a streamlined booking and completion process

This job was a last-minute collection in Leicester, booked to clear unwanted items quickly. Where items were accessible, we completed the work efficiently without the customer needing to be present throughout.

For customers who have already moved out, this type of booking can be a practical way to finish a property handover without travelling back and forth.

Location: Leicester

Service type: Waste collection / clear-out

Outcome: Fast response + efficient completion

12) Case Study: Ethical Sofa Removal & Donation Attempt (Glenfield, LE3)

Service: House clearance (furniture removal + responsible disposal)

Result: Cleared in one day with an organised sorting approach

This was a full house clearance in Leicester, where the property had already been pre-sorted of personal items, allowing us to work efficiently on furniture removal. As professional movers, we treat clearance work differently from basic “grab and go” — we protect floors, door frames, and walls throughout the process.

Where possible, we prioritised reuse/donation first, then separated materials for recycling before taking the remainder for licensed disposal.

Location: Leicester

Service type: Clearance + disposal planning

Approach: Systematic sorting (reuse → recycle → dispose)

Outcome: Completed in one day

12) Case Study: Ethical Sofa Removal & Donation Attempt (Glenfield, LE3)

Service: Large sofa removal + ethical disposal route

Result: Removed without damage and attempted donation before disposal

A heavy 3-seater sofa in Glenfield (LE3) had to come out through tight internal angles and offset doors — exactly the sort of removal that causes scuffs if rushed.

We used controlled handling and careful positioning to protect the property.

If the aofa has valid fire labels, we attempt donation first (Age UK where appropriate), and only proceed to disposal if donation isn't possible.

Location: Glenfield (LE3)

Team: 2-man handling for a large item

Outcome: Damage-free removal + donation-first approach
