Slick Removals is a man and van and removals company based in South Wigston LE18, serving Leicester and Leicestershire since 2017. Fully registered limited company, no. 10717337.
Rated 5 stars on Google with over 500 reviews, Trustpilot Rated Excellent with over 240 reviews, and Checkatrade Approved and Vetted 9.9/10 from over 88 verified reviews.
We charge £69/hr for a one-man service or £89/hr for a two-man team, both including VAT.
For small jobs and single items in Leicester the minimum charge is 1 hour — for house moves and jobs further out across Leicestershire it's 2 hours.
The clock runs from when we arrive to when the last item is placed, with no charge for travel to or from you, no stairs charges, and no hidden fees.
The DBS-checked owner leads every job.
To check availability call or WhatsApp 07934 722569.
Our rates are £69/hr for a 1-man service and £89/hr for a 2-man team, VAT included. There are no extra charges for stairs, multiple stops, or equipment.
The minimum charge is 1 hour for up to 3 items in Leicester and nearby areas.
For house moves, and for all jobs in outlying towns across Leicestershire, the minimum is 2 hours. After the minimum, time is billed in 5-minute increments so you only ever pay for the time actually used.
For house and flat moves using our 2-man team, typical time ranges are:
These are estimates — the final bill is based on actual time worked. The clock starts when we arrive at your pickup address and stops when the last item is in place at your destination.
We do not charge for travelling to you before the job or returning afterwards.
If your move needs more than one van load the clock simply keeps running — there is no per-trip charge and no restart fee.
You pay one continuous hourly rate from arrival to final offload, however many trips it takes.
Both options include a fully equipped Vauxhall Movano medium wheelbase van — ideal for Leicester's tight streets and parking spots, allowing us to get right up close to your property and cut down on carry time.
A DBS-checked owner who personally handles every job, the same person who takes your booking and turns up on the day.
Every job comes with:
We recommend booking as soon as you have a confirmed date. We take jobs on a first-come, first-served basis, so availability depends on what is already in the diary.
Call or WhatsApp 07934 722569 — we'll confirm availability and reserve your arrival window.
To confirm availability and suitability, please furnish us with:
This allows us to flag any special requirements and confirm your booking without the back and forth.
To secure your slot a £50 deposit is required by bank transfer, which is our preferred payment method.
This amount is fully deducted from your final bill when the job goes ahead.
The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel, as we turn away other work to hold your date. You can reschedule once with at least 48 hours' notice, subject to availability, and the new date must be within 7 days of the original booking.
If we ever need to cancel for any reason, you receive a full refund immediately.
Final payment is due upon completion and before the driver leaves. Bank transfer is preferred, but we also accept cash and card — there are no card surcharges.
If you need an urgent or same-day move, call us directly on 07934 722569 — we will always do our best to help at short notice depending on availability.
Yes — and often significantly so, especially if you prepare well before moving day.
With hourly pricing you benefit directly from your own efficiency. If boxes are packed, furniture is ready to go, and access is straightforward at both ends, the job moves faster and your bill is lower.
A fixed quote charges the same whether your move takes three hours or six.
One of our customers was quoted £800 by a fixed-price removal company for a local Leicester move. Their final bill with us was £217.50 — a saving of over £580 — because they only paid for the actual time worked.
The things that most affect how long a move takes are how much you have to move, how well-packed everything is when we arrive, parking and access at both properties, and the distance between addresses.
The single biggest factor in how long your move takes — and therefore how much it costs — is how prepared you are when we arrive.
The things that make the biggest difference are:
We can help with all of the above if needed — but customers who do the groundwork beforehand save significantly.
Yes — dismantling and reassembling beds, wardrobes, and flat-pack furniture is included in the hourly rate.
We bring the tools needed and it is part of the service, not an extra charge.
Furniture that can be dismantled in advance saves time on the clock, but if you'd prefer us to handle it just let us know when booking.
Older flat-pack furniture can be trickier. Bolt holes that have been assembled and disassembled several times sometimes round off, and MDF panels can weaken over the years.
With older pieces there are occasions where the furniture simply is not worth the risk of further damage — in those cases we will always tell you honestly rather than force it.
We can also disconnect and reconnect washing machines with standard fittings as part of the move, included in the hourly rate.
This applies where fittings are accessible, in working order, and not seized or corroded.
Please note we cannot disconnect hardwired appliances such as electric ovens — these require a qualified electrician.
If you have anything particularly large, unusual, or complex, mention it when booking so we can plan accordingly.
If you are waiting for keys at your new property, the clock continues running at the same hourly rate.
This is because we have reserved that time exclusively for your job and turned away other bookings to be there.
The van and crew are on your booking regardless of what is happening at the other end of the chain.
We will make the best use of any waiting time — loading what can be loaded, bringing remaining items downstairs and as close to the front door as possible — but the time is chargeable throughout.
If you think there is a risk of a delay, let us know in advance so we can agree on the best arrival time for your situation.
We cover all Leicester city postcodes — LE1 through to LE9, LE18, and LE19 — and all towns and villages across the whole of Leicestershire.
Based in South Wigston LE18, we are within a few minutes of Leicester city centre along the A426 and within easy reach of every major route out of the city.
In Leicester we regularly work across Oadby, Wigston, South Wigston, Knighton, Stoneygate, Clarendon Park, Evington, Glenfield, Braunstone, Leicester Forest East, Birstall, Thurmaston, Belgrave, Beaumont Leys, Syston, Anstey, Rothley, Countesthorpe, Blaby, Whetstone, Fleckney, Kibworth, Narborough, and Enderby.
We are familiar with the access challenges common across these areas — terraced housing, restricted parking zones, multi-floor flats, and narrow residential streets are everyday conditions for us.
We cover all Leicestershire market towns including Loughborough (LE11), Hinckley (LE10), Market Harborough (LE16), Melton Mowbray (LE13), Lutterworth (LE17), Coalville (LE67), Ashby-de-la-Zouch (LE65), and Shepshed, Quorn, and the surrounding villages within each postcode district.
Beyond Leicestershire, we cover moves to, from, and within surrounding counties including Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, and Lincolnshire — so whether you are moving into the area, out of it, or relocating entirely within a neighbouring county, we can help.
We also regularly handle long-distance moves to London, Manchester, Birmingham, and anywhere in the UK.
Long-distance jobs are priced with a fixed travel charge agreed upfront, plus your chosen hourly rate for loading and unloading on site.
A small one-man move from Leicestershire to a close London postcode such as Wembley starts from £399.
For larger volume moves where our Movano van is not enough, we can arrange a Luton low loader at an additional cost.
Call or WhatsApp 07934 722569 with your postcodes and a rough description of what needs moving and we'll give you a clear price before you commit.
Yes — we can collect and dispose of unwanted furniture, appliances, and bulky items as part of your move or as a standalone job.
If you are decluttering before moving day, clearing out old furniture in advance means less to move on the day and a lower final bill.
We can arrange a separate collection beforehand or factor disposal into the move itself.
After your move, once the boxes are unpacked you are often left with a significant amount of cardboard packaging, polystyrene, and wrapping materials.
We can return to collect and dispose of this responsibly — just let us know when booking or contact us once you are settled in.
We are a registered Environment Agency waste carrier (licence number CBDU401549), so all disposal is handled legally and responsibly.
Where furniture is in good condition we will always attempt donation to local charities — including Age UK — before taking items to disposal.
Comparison sites often advertise man and van from as little as £20 per hour, but pass your job to anonymous, unvetted drivers with undisclosed fees.
Real quotes through those platforms for a typical 2-hour local move regularly come in at £115–£185, often for one driver where you are expected to help with loading.
Reviews are spread across dozens of anonymous profiles rather than tied to one accountable business.
Slick Removals is a fully registered limited company (no. 10717337), established in Leicester since 2017, based at 56 Blaby Road, South Wigston LE18. The lead mover is the DBS-checked owner — the same person who takes your booking turns up on the day
We are rated 5 stars on Google with over 500 reviews, Trustpilot Rated Excellent with over 240 reviews, and Checkatrade Approved and Vetted 9.9/10 from over 88 verified reviews. Every job is covered by goods-in-transit and public liability insurance.
We continuously strive to be the best we can — investing in better equipment, refining our techniques, and raising our standards on every job.
Fixed hourly rate, named owner on every job, 500+ verified reviews tied to one Leicester business — no platform fee, no mystery driver, no hidden extras.
A man and van service in Leicester typically covers house moves, flat moves, single-item collections, furniture deliveries, and clearance work.
Unlike large removal companies with fixed-price quotes and Luton trucks, a man and van service charges by the hour — giving you flexibility and transparency over what you pay.
For most local Leicester moves, hourly pricing works out significantly cheaper than a fixed quote, particularly when you are well prepared on moving day.
When looking for a reliable man and van in Leicester, check for genuine verifiable reviews across multiple platforms rather than just one. Be cautious of operators with no company registration, no independent vetting, and reviews tied to a single anonymous profile — this type of unregulated service is common in the man and van market and carries real risk.
A registered limited company with Checkatrade Approved and Vetted status offers more accountability. Check that the company carries goods-in-transit and public liability insurance, and that the lead mover is DBS-checked if they will be entering your home.

Service: Storage unit relocation (high box volume + heavy items)
Result: Completed in ~2.5 hours (loading + transit + unloading), efficient due to ground-floor access
This was a high-volume move from Shurgard Leicester into a property in Knighton (LE2), including around 90 boxes and a very heavy super-king mattress.
Because the storage unit had ground-floor access, we avoided lift delays and loaded quickly.
To maximise speed at the delivery end, the customer and a family member assisted to create a “chain”, which meant boxes and furniture moved into the property at double the pace once we arrived.
Location: Leicester → Knighton (LE2)
Team: 2-man team + customer assistance at delivery
Key factor: Ground-floor access (no lift waiting)
Outcome: Fast turnaround and strong value on an hourly booking
Review: Checkatrade , 6 December 2025
Service: House move + storage box removal (3-storey property)
Result: Smooth move with no damage, solved heavy garden logistics efficiently
This Market Harborough job involved moving from a 3-storey property with parking constraints and several awkward outdoor items.
The customer had prepared well (furniture dismantled and items staged), so we could focus on safe loading, stacking, and the “non-standard” items.
We secured a long ladder using roof rails and used the right handling kit for heavy garden items to avoid breakage and protect access routes.
Location: Market Harborough (LE16)
Team: 2-man team
Equipment used: Roof rails, specialist sack truck for heavy/round items
Outcome: Efficient logistics in a difficult parking area
Review: Google, November 2025
Service: Student relocation to a town-centre flat (tight access + stairs)
Result: Completed within the booking window and helped a second student within the same slot
This student relocation in Loughborough (LE11) had a common town-centre layout issue: restricted door clearance, awkward internal geometry, and tight stairs.
We planned the route, handled the heavy items safely, and kept the job moving despite access limitations.
Because the main move completed efficiently and the booking time remained, we helped the student’s friend move into the same building — adding extra value without compromising safety or care.
Location: Loughborough (LE11)
Team: 2-man team
Key challenge: Restricted access + tight stairs
Outcome: Efficient move plus added value within the same slot
Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 22 July 2025
Service: Staged move (garage items+ careful loading strategy)
Result: Strong load efficiency and secure transport with professional packing discipline
This Wigston move involved a garage full of packed items and furniture, where the key value was how much could be safely loaded per run.
Proper van packing is not just stacking — it’s weight distribution, stability, and eliminating movement in transit.
We used a consistent method: heavy/bulky items first to form a stable base, lighter items secured above, then straps to prevent shifting.
Location: Wigston (LE18)
Service type: Staged move / multiple loads as needed
Outcome: Secure load, efficient use of booking time
Review: Checkatrade (Lo), 18 August 2025
Service: Long-distance furniture move (one-man hybrid with customer help)
Result: Cost-controlled solution using a one-man rate where suitable
This relocation from Quorn (LE12) to Nottingham was furniture-focused. To keep costs down, the customer opted for a one-man service with help at both ends for heavy lifts.
For longer-distance jobs, it’s important customers understand how billing works (loading + travel + unloading time).
The move stayed straightforward because expectations and access details were agreed upfront.
Location: LE12 → Nottingham
Service type: Long-distance / furniture move
Outcome: Cost-efficient approach using a hybrid plan
Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 16 August 2025
Service: Local house move with tight access constraints
Result: Final bill £217.50 vs a £800 fixed quote from another company
This Knighton move had tight bollards and low-hanging branches — a common Leicester access problem where larger vehicles struggle to get close.
Because we could position the van properly, the carry distance was reduced and loading remained efficient.
The customer compared our transparent hourly approach to a much higher fixed-price quote and saw a clear cost benefit based on actual time worked.
Location: Knighton (LE2)
Key constraint: Tight access (bollards + low branches)
Outcome: Efficient positioning saved time and cost
Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 17 December 2025
Service: Small house move + on-site tool fix for damaged fittings
Result: Completed in under ~3 hours including transit
This Countesthorpe to Melton move was straightforward until we hit a common issue: furniture partly dismantled with rounded bolt holes.
Rather than delay the job or leave it unresolved, we used the correct gripping tools to remove the damaged bolts safely.
This is exactly why we carry a proper toolkit — it prevents small problems turning into big time losses on moving day.
Location: LE8 → LE13
Service type: Local move + dismantle support
Outcome: Problem solved quickly, move completed under 3 hours
Review: Checkatrade (Verified), 22 December 2025
Service: Specialist appliance manoeuvring + tight access delivery
Result: Delivered and installed without damage after another delivery team abandoned it
A customer in Swadlincote (DE11) had an American fridge freezer left stranded after a delivery company couldn’t get it through a tight access route. The challenge wasn’t the weight alone — it was the angle changes, narrow sections, and awkward turns where trolleys add width and get stuck.
We switched to shoulder dolly lifting straps for a slimmer profile through the tightest points, then completed the final placement safely.
Location: Swadlincote (DE11)
Team: 2-man team
Equipment used: Shoulder Dolly straps, sack truck as needed
Outcome: Successful placement, no damage
Review: Google, September 2025
Case Study: Large Move to a 7-Bedroom House (Northampton, NN1)
Service: Larger residential relocation (multi-storey + heavy items)
Result: Completed with careful handling and sustained pace across a long day
This Northampton job involved moving heavy, bulky items from a multi-level property into a larger 7-bedroom home.
The key challenge on moves like this is maintaining safe handling standards and consistent efficiency over hours of lifting and repeated stair runs.
We focused on safe manoeuvring, stable loading, and clear placement instructions to avoid rework and wasted time.
Location: Northampton (NN1)
Service type: Large house relocation
Outcome: Careful handling + steady progress all day
